crock pot luau

i LOVE my crock pot. love it so much that i have 3 of them. excessive? maybe. but there have been occasions where all three have been in use at one time. that's how much i love them.

i don't think i need to expound on that. but i will. crock pots can be used for EVERYTHING. and it's pretty much, toss in ingredients, put on lid, go about your business as if nothing were happening, eat. how perfectly simple is that?

so, when these fine ladies decided to have a crock pot blog hop, i couldn't resist sharing my favorite recipe.

it's one that i picked up our first month we were in hawaii. it is amazingly simple and AMAZINGLY wonderful.

crock pot luau.

1 rump or shoulder roast
2 tbs liquid smoke
kosher sea salt
rice

rub roast with sea salt-however much or little. it's not a science.
put in crock pot.
pour 2 tbs of liquid smoke over roast.
cook on high 6 hours.

serve over rice. doooone.

y'all? it does not get easier. or yummier. your tummies (and your husbands) will thank you.

i am like, way too busy these days. especially too busy to go to some fun, awesome convention for bloggers. in some drab city, like new york. i mean, pshaw. who has time for THAT?

ok, so i totally have plenty of time. and would LOVE to go. but, well i just found out about it...like.....2 weeks ago. and i am pretty sure it's been booked since the beginning of time. like, adam and eve are probably going to be there. that's how awesome this thing is.

it's called blogher 2010 and it's happening now and i wasn't invited. so i am taking my toys elsewhere. like over to to be thode and musings of a marfan mom to their "no-go blogher" blog hop. it's going to be like, SO much better.

i started blogging while living in hawaii. i was young and in love....ahhh the good ol days (which by the way were the last 5 years).

i wanted a way to keep my friends and family back home up to speed on the goings on in the rainbow state and blogging seemed like an easy way to do it. then i sucked at it. i blogged like....5 times. and they were mostly rants about why mean people suck. some were worth reading, but mostly, i was just trying not to brag while also trying to talk about how awesome my life was. it was a struggle. daily.

anywho. i stopped for a while. then got knocked up. it was pretty awesome. i mean, it took forever to happen, but when it did, i was so excited that i tossed my breakfast out of the car everyday on the way to work! for 4 whole months.

then we moved to georgia. and that was less awesome. but i decided to start blogging again after my little devil was born because again, i needed a way to include my family in paradise, which now, has taken on a different meaning (clearly, because the humidity alone is enough to convince me that georgia is NOT, you know, paradise).

i have written some pretty cool and not-so-cool posts about all the things we do here. and i drink wine. and i like to write about it.

so this week, instead of attending blogher and being one of the cool momma's, i am going to retreat to the sunshine state (what can i say, i like sunshine and rainbows. and unicorns) for some fun and sun and pool hopping around the disney resorts. that's right. when all the cool kids are having fun, i'll take my toys and go on a vacation.

so, take a look around. if you like what you see, feel free to prop your feet up on the coffee table. if you can get past the piles of drool and vomit, you are welcome to stay for a while. just don't ask me for a coaster, because i think the baby ate it. or maybe it was the dog.

it's my bag baby, yaaaaah

cali over at ramblings from caliland is hosting a blog hop today and i just HAD to join in. i LOVE blog hops. but even more, i LURVE my diaper bag. and that's what this one is about. what is in your bag.

first things first. the bag. joel bought it for me for my birthday last year, without even being told! he is amazing. he even picked it out himself! he knows me so well because, like i said, i LUUUUURVE it.

it is a vera bradley bag and has lots and lots of pockets to hide fun little things. which i really understood when i started taking things out.....

here are (most of) bella's things. this pic is missing wipes, because the container floats around and i don't know where it is. starting from the upper left corner and working clockwise, some diapers, extra headbands, my nursing cover (bebe au lait), teethers (because she is cutting teeth like a maniac), happy baby organic puffs and happy baby organic melts (they keep the girl entertained for EVER), some cutie flip flops, clippers, (generic) tylenol, sippy cup (from grandma), cal baby bug lotion, cal baby calendula cream, a bottle with cold water in it (which she loves on a hot day), leg warmers (so she can crawl anywhere), some natures best all natural sunscreen, and a hat for sunny days. she usually has some sunglasses in there too, but hers are MIA for the moment. probably in the car. and there is also usually a cal baby sunscreen stick in the side pocket....i guess i have some things to find.

next up, my stuff. it pales in comparison. but i'm pretty low maintenance (compared to my very high maintenance baby).

so simple in fact, i couldn't get it to load to my photo editor. boo. anyway, here's my stuff: key to my car, pool bands, keys to joel's car/house/mailbox, bag holder, glasses case, wallet, mentha organics lip tint, my droid, and some pens. not quite as fun as bella's stuff, i have to admit. and why don't i get snacks?

seeing it all spread out, i don't really know how it all fits........
